Cambridge, 15 March 1776. Certifies that Samuel Tenny is qualified to be surgeon of Col. Daniel Hitchcock’s regiment.1

1. Samuel Tenny (Tenney; 1748–1816) of Exeter, N.H., who was a surgeon’s mate in Col. Richard Gridley’s artillery regiment during 1775, served as surgeon of Hitchcock’s 11th Continental Regiment until 1 Jan. 1777, when he became surgeon of the 2d Rhode Island Regiment. Tenny transferred to the 1st Rhode Island Regiment in 1781 and was its surgeon until the end of the war.
