Cambridge, 22 December 1775. Certifies “that Sergt Joseph Foster ... should be dischargd from the Army On account of the Sickness & Distress of his Family.”1
ADS, DLC:GW. Although this document is not addressed to GW, his discharge of Foster on this date indicates that it was sent directly to him.
1. Joseph Foster, a sergeant in Captain Dwight’s company of militia from Ware, Mass., was discharged on this date. On the reverse of this document, Woodbridge certified that the town of Ware sent one man more than the number ordered by the Massachusetts council.
