[Cambridge] 28 October 1775. Certifies that Sgt. Edmund Foster “is a Candidate for admission into Harvard College, & desirous of time to revive his acquaintance with the Classics that he may join this Seminary as soon as possible; tho’ it will be with regret if he leaves the service of his Country, yet his Age pleads for your permission to return to his Studies.”1

1. Edmund Foster, a sergeant in Capt. Oliver Pond’s company in Col. Joseph Read’s Massachusetts regiment, was discharged on this date. Foster is not listed among the graduates of Harvard College.
