1771. “A List of Lands belonging to Geo: Washington in the Northern Neck on wch Quit-rents became due Michaelmas 1772.”1

1. What follows is identical with what was printed in Memorandum: List of Quitrents, 1769, except that GW records 200 acres bought from John Posey at Mount Vernon in Fairfax County, changing the total acreage in Fairfax County to 5,518, the overall total to 12,463, and the total levy paid to £15.11.6. John Hough’s appended receipt for payment of the levy is dated 16 June 1772.
