1. GW lent this to Samuel Washington from the funds of John Parke Custis. See Guardian Accounts, 11 April 1767.

2. Susanna Bishop, who often served as a midwife, was the wife of Thomas Bishop, the overseer of Muddy Hole farm. A slave named Betty was a house servant, and another one lived on Dogue Run farm.
