Tolerably clear in the Morning, but more or less cloudy all day afterwards. Not much Wind and that Southwesterly.
Captn. Brooke dined here. I rid to my Mill and to the Dogue run & Muddy hole plantations.
captn. brooke: probably Walter Brooke (d. 1798), a son of Thomas Brooke (1706–1748) and Sarah Mason Brooke of Charles County, Md. During the Revolution, Brooke served as captain of the sloop Liberty in the Virginia navy and in 1777 was made a commodore. He was now living in Fairfax County, probably in the vicinity of Mount Vernon ( , 86).
