24th. Set out on my return to New Windsor—dined at Farmington and lodged at Litchfield.1

1. GW’s lodgings in Litchfield were probably at Samuel Sheldon’s tavern or at Capt. William Stanton’s tavern in Kilbourn House, both on North Street (CROFUT description begins Florence S. Marcy Crofut. Guide to the History and the Historic Sites of Connecticut. 2 vols. New Haven, 1937. description ends , 1:62).
