2. Went to Christ Church & dined at the New Tavern.

Christ Church, the oldest Anglican church in Philadelphia, was located on the corner of Second and Market streets. On this day, one of the assistant rectors, Rev. Thomas Coombe, preached upon “Judge not according to the Appearance, but judge righteous Judgment” (ADAMS [1] description begins L. H. Butterfield, ed. Diary and Autobiography of John Adams. 4 vols.
