Boston April 26th. 1806.


Having been informed that a Consul for Rotterdam is about to be appointed by the Executive of the United States, and being well acquainted with the character and talents of Mr. George Joy of the State of New York, now in London, we beg leave thro’ you to mention him to the President as a gentleman well qualified for that Office, and to recommend him as a person who would fill it with honor and fidelity, and give general satisfaction to the Government as well as to the Merchants of the United States We are Sir very respectfully Yr.
