The subjects of the publication, with the source from which it proceeds, sufficiently recommend it to the perusal which I shall take the first convenient leisure for giving it. In the mean time, I offer you my thanks with the renewed expression of my esteem & my friendly respects.

1. The letterbook copy has “from Mr Steele” here. This was Daniel Steele (1772–1828), a bookbinder and bookseller in Albany, New York, and the publisher of Watson’s “little Volume” (Daniel Steele Durrie, Steele Family. A Genealogical History of John and George Steele, (Settlers of Hartford, Conn.) 1635–6, and Their Descendants … (Albany, N.Y., 1862), 22.
