I nominate,

Alexander Scott of Maryland, to be commissioner under the act providing for the payment for property lost Captured or destroyed by the Enemy and for other purposes.

John J Abert to be Topographical Engineer in the Souther[n] division of the army.

The Senate approved the nomination of Abert on the same day but deferred that of Scott (Senate Exec. Proceedings, description begins Journal of the Executive Proceedings of the Senate of the United States of America (3 vols.; Washington, D.C., 1828). description ends 3:53).
