§ Francis S. Belton to Daniel Parker. 21 February 1815, Baltimore. “By the direction of Major General Scott I have the honor to transmit for the consideration of the President of the United States the proceedings of a General Court Martial held at Pittsburgh Pa of which Captain Sampson S King 22d Reg Infy is President.”

RC (DNA: RG 94, Letters Received, filed under “Belton”). 1 p.; docketed as received in the War Department on 23 Feb. 1815. Enclosure not found. Belton also sent court-martial proceedings to Parker for JM’s decision in letters dated 14 Jan., 22 Feb., and 21 Apr. 1815, the first of which is docketed in an unidentified hand: “Gen Orders on proceeding of Cts Martial in Capital Cases with a list of those sentenced to death for the decision of the President,” and by Parker: “Proceedings returned to Major Belton” (ibid.).
