30 November 1809, Frankfort. Sends JM a copy of a letter recently received from Dr. James Speed.1 Speed, now a resident of lower Louisiana, is a man whose credentials are impeccable. Believes the information Speed relates is “of so Much importance” he is duty bound to reveal contents to JM.

1James Speed (1774–1812), born in Charlotte County, Virginia, moved with his family to Kentucky in 1782. He studied medicine at Edinburgh (Thomas Speed, Records and Memorials of the Speed Family [Louisville, Ky., 1892], pp. 57, 147).
