§ From William C. C. Claiborne. 27 March 1807, New Orleans. “I have the honor to inclose you a copy of two Addresses signed by many respectable Citizens of this Territory, approving the late conduct of General Wilkinson and myself.”1

1. The two addresses and responses from Claiborne and James Wilkinson, all dated 23 March 1807, were published in the New Orleans Louisiana Gazette, 27 Mar. 1807. The addresses expressed approval of the measures Claiborne and Wilkinson had taken to suppress Burr’s alleged conspiracy.
