Acknowledged as received in JM to Nones, 12 Jan. 1807, with “the memorial it enclosed.” The enclosed 25 December 1806 memorial (2 pp.) was docketed by Wagner: “Recd. in Benj. Nones’ 7 Jany 1807.” It was addressed to Thomas Jefferson and signed by John Taylor Jr. and forty-nine other Philadelphia merchants who were petitioning for Nones’s appointment as notary public at Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe (DNA: RG 59, LAR, 1801–9, filed under “Nones”).
