§ From William Lee. 31 December 1806, Bordeaux. “I have this day had the honor to transmit you a letter from Genl. Armstrong enclosed to me in one from his Excellency of which the annexed is a copy.”1

Lee enclosed a copy of John Armstrong to Lee, 24 Dec. 1806 (1 p.; first copy docketed by Wagner), relating from Paris that Armstrong had received “written assurances” from the minister of marine that the Berlin Decree would “in no respect disturb the existing regulations of Commerce between France and the U: S: of America.”
