§ From William Pechin. 20 November 1806, Baltimore. “Will please pay, Mr. Henry Ingle, of Washington, the amount of the foregoing acct. against Department of State.”
RC (DNA: RG 217, First Auditor’s Accounts, No. 18,818). 1 p. Appended to a 20 November 1806 statement addressed to the State Department: “To publishing the Laws of the United States, passed at the last session, previous to the above date—163 pages, at 50 Cents per page. $81.50.” Below this statement Henry Ingle wrote and signed: “Receiv’d payt. for Wm. Pechin.” At the bottom of the page is a 27 November 1806 signed statement by State Department clerk Christopher Thom certifying the account as correct.
