1. Barnes enclosed Andrew Marschalk to JM, 20 Aug. 1806 (1 p.): “Be pleased to pay to Mr. William E. Barnes or Order eighty one Dollars, 50 cts. for printing in the Mississippi Herald the laws passed at the first Session of the Ninth Congress of the United States.” Also filed with these letters is a 9 January 1807 Department of State account for this expense (1 p.) made out to Marschalk and signed and certified by Jacob Wagner as correct.
