Described in Daniel Brent to Robert Purviance, 3 Sept. 1806, addressed to Purviance at Baltimore, as forwarding a protest by “the Master of the Brig Sussex,” stating that one of his seamen, John Thomson of Maryland, had been impressed at sea on 27 May 1806 (DNA: RG 59, Correspondence with Collectors of Customs regarding Impressed Seamen, box 12).
