Acknowledged in Daniel Brent to Nicols, 18 July 1806, addressed to Nicols at Chestertown, Maryland, as enclosing a letter to Nicols from Edward Herren stating that Herren had been “impressed by and detained in the British Ship of War, Mermaid, on the Halifax station,” and asking Nicols “to procure his discharge” (DNA: RG 59, Correspondence with Collectors of Customs regarding Impressed Seamen, box 12).
