The enclosure (1 p.) is a copy of Degen, Purviance, & Co. to Lee, 1 July 1805, transmitting a copy of John Rodgers’s 8 June 1805 letter to Frederick Degen (1 p.) announcing the peace arranged on 31 May between the United States and Tripoli by Tobias Lear, as well as the release of William Bainbridge and the Philadelphia crew members.
