§ From Benjamin Russell
11 January 1802, Boston. “Mr. Edward Tuckerman, who honors this letter, is authorized to receive in my behalf, the Monies due to me, from the Department of State, for publishing in the Columbian Centinel, the Laws of the United States, passed during the last Session of the Sixth Congress.1 He will sign the usual receipts.”2
RC (DNA: RG 217, First Auditor’s Accounts, no. 13,074). 1 p. Written on the verso is a 22 Jan. 1802 endorsement by Edward Tuckerman: “I request that the within money may be paid to the Hbe Levi Lincoln Esqr.”
