28 October 1795, Orange County. Recommends Daniel Davis1 “for managing an arsenal under the superintendant thereof.” Davis gained experience as a gunsmith during three years at the Fredericksburg arms factory during the Revolutionary War.

1. Davis apparently did not receive the post, since he continued to apply for state appointments over the next several years (CVSP description begins William P.
