tomorrow I shall draw in favor of Alexr Garrett for 210. something more or less, and of John Watson somewhere about 70.
The harpsichord strings came safe, but the letter of Oct. 5. loitered somewhere till the 19th. I see a Franklin Almanac advertised at the2 Franklin office, opposite the Market. will you be so good as to send me 2. copies by mail? I expect you have recieved a small package of books for me from Guigam: Baltimore. be so good as to forward them by a waggon to James Leitch. mr Baker informed me he should recieve soon a cask of Scuppernon wine for me, which I desired him to deliver to you, & I pray you to send by the boats of Johnson, Gilmore or any other boatman whom you know to be trusty. TJ drew on Peyton for his bedford taxes for $175 on 21 Sept. 1820 although he noted that the amount “shd. be 157.95” ( , 2:1367). His records indicate that the payment to Thomas Jefferson randolph was “in full of 1000.D. borrowed for me from Carr ante for repayment of which he recd. for me from Charles Everett 929.85 (ante July 13.) which with the 1000.D. ante Aug. 9. compleated Everett’s payment of 1929.85. and the 106.D. now paid to Th:J.R. pays principal & int. in full of the 1000.D. he borrowed for me of Carr” ( , 2:1369).
The payment to martin dawson covered an order on TJ by Edmund Meeks for $174.47 including interest, TJ’s note to Peter Laporte for $50.45 including interest, Youen Carden’s order on TJ for $8 in favor of John Ormond, a payment to Dr. Thomas G. Watkins on TJ’s behalf of $60, and TJ’s store account with Dawson through 31 July 1820 totaling $46.60 ( , 2:1369). guigam: Henry Guegan.
