Thomas Jefferson Papers

From Thomas Jefferson to Willing, Morris & Swanwick, 11 September 1793

To Willing, Morris & Swanwick

Sep. 11. 1793.

Th: Jefferson presents his compliments to Messrs. Willing, Morris, & Swanwick, and notwithstanding the hope given in the above extract that their bill will be paid, thinks it his duty to communicate it to them.

PrC (DLC); subjoined to extract described below. FC (Lb in DNA: RG 59, DL).

Above extract: a slightly edited text of that part of the last paragraph of Thomas Pinckney’s 20 June 1793 letter to TJ from London relating to the bill of exchange for £3,000 drawn by Willing, Morris & Swanwick on John & Francis Baring.

Willing, Morris & Swanwick evidently responded to TJ in a letter of 12 Sep. 1793, which is recorded in SJL as received the same date but has not been found.
