N (DLC), in TJ’s hand, written below a memorandum from the Board of War; see below.

Immediately above TJ’s calculations appears this memorandum: “Ordered to the Southw[ard]. From Marshalls Regmt.—350 R. From Muiters—100. 2 Troop of Horse 64 [Total] 514. Officers proportionate to the above numbers.” Signed by Innes, Barron, and Lyne. The paper obviously refers to the expedition to which Col. Porterfield was commissioned (see the preceding document) and has therefore been assigned to this date. In DLC: TJ Papers, 5: 718, is a more extended and detailed “Return of the Southern Detachment April 6th. 1780,” signed by Charles Porterfield, and giving the total rank and file as 427.
