Fredericksburg [New York] November 18, 1778. Recommends Count Kotkowski,2 a Polish officer, for “the rank of Captain and the pay of Lieutenant” in the Continental Army.

1. Laurens, a merchant from Charleston, South Carolina, was a member of the Continental Congress from January, 1777, to November, 1779, and served as president of that body from November 1, 1777, to December 9, 1778.
2. Count Stanislas Kotkowski was a Knight of the Holy Cross and a friend of Count Casimir Pulaski.
