8. Phineas Ashmun had been appointed a lieutenant in the Fourteenth Regiment of Infantry on January 8, 1799 (, 300, 303). He declined the appointment ( 171) and was appointed captain in the same regiment on March 3, 1799 (, 322, 323).
Solomon Phelps, Erasmus Babbet, Jr., Thomas Chandler, John Tolman, Nathaniel Thwing, James Brown, and Ephraim Emery were appointed captains in the Fourteenth Regiment of Infantry on January 8, 1799 (, 299, 303).
Arthur Lithgow and Joseph Peirce, Jr., were appointed captains in the Fourteenth Regiment of Infantry on March 3, 1799 (, 322, 323), but both declined appointment ( 172).
Alpheus Cheney and Isaac Rand, Jr., were appointed lieutenants in the Fourteenth Regiment of Infantry on January 8, 1799 (, 300, 303).
John Walker and Isaac Winslow were appointed majors in the Fourteenth Regiment of Infantry on January 8, 1799 (, 299, 303).
