[Philadelphia, March 2, 1793.] Recommends Melancthon Lloyd Woolsey “As a proper person to be Appointed Collector of the New District on Lake Champlain.”2

1. Hillhouse was a member of the House of Representatives from Connecticut.

2. Woolsey was appointed collector of “the District of Champlain, in the State of New York” on March 4, 1793 (Executive Journal, I description begins Journal of the Executive Proceedings of the Senate (Washington, 1828), I. description ends , 138).
