At the request of several officers of our late Army, I transmit you the enclosed Memorandum. If any provision is made for such cases you will oblige me by informing me. Mrs. Rensselaer joins in love to you & Mrs. Hamilton.

1. Van Rensselaer was a member of the New York Assembly in 1789 and 1790, and served in the state Senate from 1791 to 1795. In 1783 he had married Margaret (or Margarita) Schuyler, Elizabeth Hamilton’s sister.
