From Alleyne Fitzherbert
AL: Library of Congress
Paris Wednesday afternoon. [February 5, 1783?]8
Mr. Fitz-Herbert presents his Compliments to Dr Franklin and many Thanks for the passports.— He purposes sending away a Messenger to England tomorrow about noon and will be happy to charge him with any letters or packets which Dr Franklin may have to send.
8. If Fitzherbert is referring to the first set of American passports for British ships, then this date is likely. See the annotation of that passport, [Feb. 3], and JA to BF of the same date.
