Le Baron d’Espagnac prie Monsieur de francklin d’agréer Ses Excuses et Ses Regrets de L’Impossibilité où il Se trouve de se rendre a L’honneur de Son invitation Jeudy prochain vingt un du Courant, lui étant Survenu depuis Dimanche dernier des Coliques d’Entrailles qui ne lui permettent d’aller manger nulle part; dès que Sa Santé Sera rétablie, Il aura L’honneur d’aller demander à Diner à Monsieur de francklin et de lui renouveller les hommages de Ses Sentimens de dévouement et de Respect.

8Jean-Baptiste-Joseph d’Amarzit de Sahuguet, baron d’Espagnac (1713–1783), maréchal de camp, adjoint governor of the Hôtel royal des invalides, and author of several works on the art of warfare: DBF; Quérard, France littéraire. It was he who hosted the 1778 meal at the Invalides where Parmentier’s potato bread was served to a group of high government officials and academicians: XXVII, 578; Bachaumont, Mémoires secrets, XII, 155. Later, at the opening ceremonies for the Ecole gratuite de boulangerie, Cadet de Vaux praised him for the changes introduced at the military hospital’s bakery: Jour. de Paris, June 11, 1780. The baron died on Feb. 28, 1783, and the Jour. de Paris ran a 3½-page obituary in the March 21 sup.
