9A Nantucket whaling captain whose ship, in the service of the British whale fishery, had been captured in October by the French. Clark here forwards a letter written on his behalf by Griffith Williams, the English surgeon who often interceded for American prisoners. The letter, dated Oct. 30, is above, XXVII, 666–8.
