Harvard College April 25. 1769.
Vote 8. That the Thanks of this Board be given to Dr. Franklin for his many very obliging acts of friendship; particularly for his care in procuring several valuable Instruments for the Apparatus,6 and that he be desired to continue his kind regards to the College.

6. The instruments mentioned above, XV, 166–7, and probably also the telescope that BF had recently sent; see his letter to John Winthrop above, March 11. Five ships had just arrived after a one-month crossing; Boston Chron., April 17–20, 1769.
