1JA sent Byzantinæ historiæ scriptores, 24 vols., Venice, Italy, 1729–1733, and Ludovicus Antonius Muratorius, Rerum italicarum scriptores, 29 vols., Milan, Italy, 1723–1751. JA acted as president of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences from 24 May 1791 until his resignation on 4 June 1813, often transmitting books and correspondence on the organization’s behalf (AFC description begins Adams Family Correspondence, ed.
