At a Brigade General Court-Martial in General Woodford’s Brigade held at Sloterdam Camp July 10th 1778—Lieutt Coll Cropper President, Ensign Cooper of the 15th Virginia Regiment tried for being drunk on the 6th instant and laying in the road in a shameful manner when he ought to have been with his Regiment, found guilty and sentenced to be cashiered.1
At the same Court Lieutt Burnly of the 7th Virginia Regiment tried for absenting himself from his command without leave; found guilty & sentenced to be discharged from the service.2
The Commander in Chief approves the sentences and orders them to take place.

1. Samuel Cooper had served in the 15th Virginia Regiment since November 1776, being promoted from sergeant-major to ensign on 20 June 1777. Slotterdam referred to a region on the east side of the Passaic River including parts of what are now Fair Lawn and East Paterson, New Jersey.
2. Garland Burnley (1753–1793) was commissioned a 1st lieutenant of the 7th Virginia Regiment on 7 May 1776 and discharged on this date. In 1779 he became a captain of the Convention Army Guard Regiment in Virginia.
