Eqr Monticello Va”; franked; postmarked Philadelphia, 16 July; endorsed by TJ as a letter from Mathew Carey received 21 July 1820 and so recorded in SJL; additional notation by TJ beneath endorsement: “July 31. 20. inclosed him 25.D.”
