Accept my thanks for yr. friendly Letter by Capt. Pratt, and be assured that it will always give me Pleasure to hear of your Welfare and that of your Family.1 I remember with Satisfaction & with Gratitude the hospitable Retreat ^Reception^ you afforded us ^you gave us^ [upon the operations of our last Enemies adversary?] in the late war, and regret that you did not by accompanying Capt. Pratt give me an opportunity of adding to the number of social Hours which we have passed together. Whenever you may find it ^be^ convenient ^to you^ to visit New York you ^we^ will find us endeavour to make it agreable to you as I assure you it will be to us We have a Room ^chamber^ at your Service, and your Horse shall be with mine—
I inclose a Pamphlet which I think you will read with Pleasure and Mrs. Jay sends for Mrs. Bordwell a Box (the Lid of which exhibits a true Representation of a Balloon which ascended while we were at Paris) for the Mrs. Bordwell and a pair of Buckles for your eldest Daughter I am with great Esteem & Regard Dr Sr. yr most obt. & hble Servt
