M. M. Dacier, Le Roi, Désormeaux et Dusaulx sont venus, en qualité de Députés de l’Académie des inscriptions et Belles-Lettres,7 pour remercier Monsieur Frankelin de la Médaille dont il a gratifié la Compagnie:8 Médaille où l’on regrette de ne point voir le nom du premier et véritable Auteur de la plus grande, de la plus belle révolution des tems modernes; mais qui n’en rappelera pas moins ce nom glorieux à la posterité la plus reculée.

7. Bon-Joseph Dacier (DBF) was the perpetual secretary of the academy, while Julien-David Le Roy (XXIX, 634n), Joseph-Louis Ripault Désormeaux (DBF), and Jean-Joseph Dusaulx (XXIX, 123n) were associate members: Almanach royal for 1783, p. 505.
8. On May 4 Sarsfield apologized to BF for having asked him in front of one of the members of the academy whether he had already given them a Libertas Americana medal: XXXIX, 548. BF then made the gift, which Dacier presented on his behalf at the academy’s June 6 meeting: Lester C.
