Benjamin Franklin Papers

To Benjamin Franklin from Alleyne Fitzherbert, [5 February? 1783]

From Alleyne Fitzherbert

AL: Library of Congress

Paris Wednesday afternoon. [February 5, 1783?]8

Mr. Fitz-Herbert presents his Compliments to Dr Franklin and many Thanks for the passports.— He purposes sending away a Messenger to England tomorrow about noon and will be happy to charge him with any letters or packets which Dr Franklin may have to send.

[Note numbering follows the Franklin Papers source.]

8If Fitzherbert is referring to the first set of American passports for British ships, then this date is likely. See the annotation of that passport, [Feb. 3], and JA to BF of the same date.
