Andrews was making composition ornaments and pateras for interior decorative work at Monticello (TJ to James Dinsmore, 1 Dec. 1802; Notes on Composition Ornaments, 17 Mch. 1803). According to TJ’s financial records, on 21 Feb. he gave Andrews an order on John Barnes for $87.96 for “composition ornaments in architect” (MB description begins James A. Bear, Jr., and Lucia C. Stanton, eds., Jefferson’s Memorandum Books: Accounts, with Legal Records and Miscellany, 1767-1826, Princeton, 1997, The Papers of Thomas Jefferson, Second Series description ends , 2:1092).
