On 14 April, Dearborn informed Henry B. jackson, Samuel W. sayre, Louis C. bayly, William P. clyma, Julius F. heileman, William McRee (mcrea), and Thomas K. sandwich that the president had approved their respective appointments (FCs in Lb in DNA: RG 107, LSMA; Dearborn to Sandwich, 1 June 1803, in same). Jackson and Bayly resigned within months, however, and only Sayre and Clyma were included in TJ’s list of military nominations sent to the Senate on 18 Nov. 1803 ( , 1:201, 312, 520, 567, 682, 863; , 1:458).
