Inclosed you will receive a certified copy of some Resolutions which passed the General Assembly of this State, and which I have been requested to forward to you.

Enclosure: Resolutions of the Ohio General Assembly, 16 Apr. 1803, declaring their satisfaction with the measures taken by Congress in relation to navigation of the Mississippi River, which demonstrate that the United States, while disposed toward peace, is “determined to vindicate their rights”; the legislature also has “full confidence” that the present administration will pursue measures that will “best secure the rights and interests of the western states” regarding the Mississippi and will cooperate fully with the national government “in support of their rights and interests”; the governor is requested to forward a copy of the resolutions to the president of the United States (Acts of the State of Ohio, First Session of the General Assembly, Held Under the Constitution of the State, A.D.
