By His Excellency Jonathan Belcher Esqr:7 Captain General and Governor in Chief in and over His Majestys Province of New Jersey and Territories thereon depending in America Chancellor and Vice Admiral in the Same &c.
No. III Pay to Benjamin Franklin or Order the Sum of Thirty one pounds ten Shillings proclamation Money for printing Sundry Acts and Laws before the 14 day of March anno Dom. 1748 as per Account allowed by Richard Smith Junr. and Joseph Cooper Esqrs: and for so doing this shall be your Warrant.8 Given under my hand in Council at Burlington the twenty sixth day of July anno Dom. 1750.

8. BF did some of the official printing of New Jersey, 1739–48, and was King’s Printer for that colony, 1742–49, being succeeded by William Bradford, Jr. (see above, II, 315 n), 1749. The payment referred to was probably for printing the laws of the session beginning Nov. 17, 1747 (Evans 6200).
9. Smith and Saltar were members of the Council, Cooper and Cooke, of the Assembly. Charles Read was secretary of the Council.
