To Benjamin Franklin from James Logan, 13 February 1749

Febry 13th [1749]
To B Franklin
I return’d him the Reliquiae Bodleianae6 which he took out of the Library for me, blaming the Editor for not digesting the Letters according to their date, and kept Peter Kalm’s Fauna Suecica by Linnaeus7 taking notice of his being of Aboae in Finland which as being in that Province I wonder’d he should call their Academy Stockholmiae.8
6. Reliquiae Bodleianae: or Some Genuine Remains of Sir Thomas Bodley (London, 1703). Most of the volume is composed of Bodley’s letters to Dr. Thomas James, first Keeper of the library; as Logan complained, they are not arranged in chronological order. Logan ordered a copy from John Whiston, London bookseller, Nov. 27, 1749. Letterbook, Hist. Soc. Pa.
7. Carolus Linnaeus, Fauna Svecica, Sistens Animalia Sveciae Regni (Stockholm, 1746).
8. Logan seems to be confusing the University of Åbo, where Kalm was professor, with the Royal Academy of Sciences at Stockholm, of which he was a member.
