8. XXXI, 130n, the most recent in a series of lists of loan office certificates, compiled in an attempt to detect counterfeits. Treasurer of Loans Hopkinson sent similar lists on May 14 (of sets of bills issued by the loan offices of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and New Hampshire) and June 27 (bills issued by the loan offices of New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, and North Carolina). On April 13 he sent a list of eight sets of replacement bills issued to Thomas McKean, for which see JCC, XVI, 331–2. Copies of all these documents are at the APS.
