6. Hector Ernest Gambold (1719–1788), born in Wales, became a Moravian at Oxford, migrated to Pennsylvania, 1742, with a group of German and Welsh Moravians. Ordained in 1755, he preached in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, and in 1763 settled on Staten Island as the first Moravian minister there. He died at Bethleham.
