7. For receipt of these petitions by the House, see , 483, 206, 456, 244, 391, 360, 376, 369, 179, 478, 510.
8. Presumably there is an error concerning the name of this petitioner. The name of Henry Walton appears in the Journal of the House (I, 580) as one of the petitioners whose claim was considered in the report printed above. There is no record in the Journal of the House of the referral of a petition of William Walton to H, but on January 24, 1792, “A petition of Henry Walton, in behalf of himself and Anne Walton, and Elizabeth Walton, devisees of Jacob Walton, late of the city of New York, deceased, was presented to the House and read, praying compensation for damages sustained in the property of their testator, by the American Army, during the late war.
“Ordered, That the said petition be referred to the Secretary of the Treasury, with instruction to examine the same, and report his opinion thereupon to the House.” ( , 495.)
