1. On 27 Dec. JM nominated Shumate, a resident of Culpeper County, Virginia. The Senate confirmed his appointment on 3 Jan. 1810, and he served until 1812 ( , 2:134, 136; , p. 497).
2. John Love (d. 1822), an Alexandria Republican, represented Fauquier County in the Virginia House of Delegates, 1805–7, and the district composed of Loudoun, Prince William, and Fairfax counties in the U.S. House of Representatives, 1807–11. He served as a state senator, 1816–20 ( , p. 399; Stanley B. Parsons, William W. Beach, and Dan Hermann, United States Congressional Districts, 1788–1841 [Westport, Conn., 1978], p. 130).
