1. George Poindexter (1779–1835) served as delegate to Congress from the Mississippi Territory, 1807–13. JM was to receive two other letters from members of the House on his behalf; one was from Adam Seybert and eight other Pennsylvania representatives, dated 29 Mar., and the other was from Robert Witherspoon and four other South Carolina representatives, dated 4 Apr. (printed ibid., 6:57, 58–59).
